Crowdfunding Round-Up May 22nd

It's time again, for a weekly Crowdfunding Round-up. There are 8 new projects this week hitting Gamefound and Kickstarter in the next 7 days. We have everything on offer in this week's round-up: giant foam dice, fox dens, spells, cowboys and even the colour spectrum. I'm sure there is something for us all this week, and I know I'll be following a few of these projects closely. As always, remember, back with your head, not your heart and most importantly, love your games.

Raise your pack of kits more efficiently than other players. Ensure their growth and accelerate your game by developing their instincts in your den. RUSE Instincts of the Den invites you on an exhilarating adventure in a Fox-themed Mid-Weight Euro-style strategy game. Unique design with worker placement, territories exploration, resource and dice management. The player who accumulates the most victory points wins the game.

In the tactical co-operative game The Last Spell: The Board Game, a tabletop adaptation of Ishtar Games' video game of the same name, you are a hardened warrior whose only purpose in life is to desperately defend the last of the mages while trying to cast "the last spell" and banish all magic from this world and maybe save us all. Maybe.

The game is set in a dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic world in which you have to carefully manage the scarce resources at your disposal to survive long enough. Gameplay revolves around three cycles of day and night in which players use daylight hours to bolster the game economy, fortify defences against nocturnal invaders, and upgrade their heroes' equipment to unlock more power.

You can choose to play single scenarios or embark on a campaign that challenges you with increasing levels of difficulty. With a plethora of weapons and abilities at your disposal across multiple plays, there's always something new to explore — and for the ultimate test of your strategic prowess, witness the fiery destruction of your city in the face of overwhelming odds.

The year is 1858 in Carson City, Nevada. You have rounded up a team of courageous cowboys, and your plan is to buy up the best parcels of land in this new town, then build them up with the most prosperous ranches, mines, saloons, etc.

Carson City: Big Box is a collection of the Carson City base game, the Gold & Guns expansion, and the upcoming Horses & Heroes expansion. The game board has been redesigned and updated to support a sixth player and the Horses & Heroes expansion. The game is played in four rounds, and in each one of them, the players choose one of the characters, which give certain advantages. When several players claim the same action, a duel is fought, and the player with the most firepower wins the action. In the end, the most prominent citizen in Carson City — as measured by victory points that can be won both during and after the game — wins.

Carson City: Gold & Guns, the first expansion, contains updated buildings and houses, new buildings, new double-sided characters, the "Indian" character (previously a promotional item at Spiel 2010), and a separate expansion called "The Outlaws".

Carson City: Horses & Heroes, the second expansion, lets players visit the rodeo to claim additional victory points and use horses to unlock special actions. Three new characters are also added to the game.

Ragnarok is upon us and the must prepare for the end of the 9 realms. Fight for Ragnarok is an asymmetric worker placement game for 3-5 player. In it each player will choose a faction to control and try to either gain 60 victory points first or be the last player with any workers left.

Fight for Ragnarok is and asymmetric game. That means that each player chooses a different faction to play at the start. Each faction has a very different play style and way to gain victory points. The factions you play are different groups of gods and giants from Norse Mythology. Control the likes of famous gods like Thor, Freya, Loki, and Surtr.

The Spectrum Board Game Kickstarter will include the Spectrum Cards & d12 dice expansions. Backers of Spectrum will receive the 168 card Spectrum Cards Deck Expansion & the d12 dice expansion free with the Spectrum board game.

Spectrum the board game was debuted at Pax Unplugged in 2022 where it was named one of the Top 10 Indie Gems at Pax Unplugged. The addition of the Kickstarter Exclusive free Spectrum Cards and d12 Dice expansions to give you over a dozen more Spectrum games to play!

The first of its kind - a squishy dice throwing and rolling strategy party game!

Asteroid Dice came about from a love of dice and dodgeball! A dicey combination? We don’t think so. Simply throw and collide your squishy foam dice to roll the highest score each round and win all the cards in the asteroid field. You must choose a dice from the middle of the table, but if you pick the same as someone else, then battle it out to see who gets that dice and who loses their card!

How to play: Place all the giant squishy dice in the centre of the table and take your deck of cards. Secretly choose which dice card you want to play, and on the count of 3 reveal it to the other players. Grab the dice you chose and prepare to roll them! If anyone matches their cards, you brawl with the chosen dice. The last player hit will gain their opponent’s cards and the losers have to choose from the leftover dice. Now everyone rolls their dice in turn - starting with the D20 and down to the D6 with the highest number winning. But watch out for the special cards! Losteroid cards are blackholes that will suck all the cards away in the round and reduce your score if you end up with one in your score pile. Play your "I Can’t Decide" card if you’re not sure which dice to choose or as part of your dice game strategy.

1970's San Francisco. A City Under Siege. A Maniac Sniper is on the loose… Codename – Stinger. Killing at random, he doesn’t want money. He’s enjoying himself.

Standing in his way, three of SFPD’s finest. Their task, to close the net while there’s still time. They must stop the killing or, as a last resort, prevent his escape.

Inspired by classic 70’s cop cinema, Go Ahead Punk is a One vs All hidden movement game of cat and mouse stealth and all guns blazing action!

For 1-4 players, one player takes on the role of the Sniper using hidden movement to sneak around the streets of San Francisco. The cards he draws will determine where he has access to take a shot before making his escape.

The other players take on the role of the cops, using their individual skills to help track down Stinger; Brannigan the uncompromising cop with a powerful 44 magnum, Johnson the combat specialist with the ability to re-roll dice and Lacey the intel specialist with an instinct for playing the right hunch.

When the cops find Stinger, combat breaks out as they try to take him down. From six-shooter to rocket launcher, players use whatever weapons they've been able to lay their hands on. If the cops exhaust their health, they're taken to the ER to heal. (no player elimination)

Stinger must complete 3 hit's and escape the city to win, but if he runs out of health, it's victory for SFPD!

Loam is a set-matching strategy game about building healthy soils. You are a plant, who for obvious reasons is into that sort of thing. You also have a lot more power and agency over your environment than humans often give you credit for. Use chemical inputs to sculpt the soil’s weird and wonderful biodiversity to assemble vibrant ecological communities.
